As a portrait photographer, concentrating on people and pets, I need the creative stimulation that personal projects can bring. So, although I also have ‘Weekend Passions’ as a sideline project, this is still people based. I’ve always been interested in details. Specifically, the everyday and the mundane. Things that we just pass by, or notice fleetingly, can have their own beauty when seen from a different perspective. I don’t necessarily mean beauty as in ‘drop dead gorgeous’, but they might have strong graphic elements, textures or lighting that can be of visual interest.

So ‘Up Close & Personal’ is my playground to experiment with the ephemera of our daily lives, to try out different lighting techniques or post processing, challenge myself photographically and generally get some visual ‘brain food’. If some of you enjoy the journey, all the better.
