What started out as a request for a simple headshot turned into all the P’s, a very precise portrait session for a ballet dancer student.
The lovely Zoe wanted a headshot portrait for her on-line portfolio. During an informal chat before the session, I discovered that she was in her last year as a dance student and was starting down the road of self-promotion.
We decided to make the most of the portrait session by capturing some of her ballet moves for her to send out as printed material to various dance agencies.
The hardest part of the session was choosing the final images. Zoe’s bubbly personality meant that for a lot of the time she was laughing. Ordinarily, that’s a good sign for me. It means the person in front of the lens is relaxed enough to enjoy the photo session. The problem was that in this instance, she needed the dance pose images to be at least semi-serious.
Added to which, ballet poses are very precise and capturing the correct placement of the fingers, for example, was just as important as the rest of body.
