As an established property photographer in Hampshire and the surrounding area, I was pleasantly surprised recently to take on a different kind of photography commission. The bulk of my property photograph is to supply high-quality photographs for various agencies such as Airbnb, KeyAgent, local Estate Agents and Boutique B&B or Rentals.
One of the reasons that Airbnb has taken off so well, is that when the children in a family grow up and move out, it’s often the case that a large family home has rooms that are sitting idle. This presents the perfect opportunity for the parents to create some additional income with short-term lets.
Earlier this month I was approached by the owner of a rather grand country house, via the recommendation of a former client, to photograph her home for an Internet-based TV and Film location directory. The owner was in a similar situation. Her children had grown up and now had families of their own. She didn’t want to commit to the uncertainty of when a potential visitor may want to stay, via the Airbnb service, but she didn’t want the opportunity to go to waste.
A chance conversation with a friend resulted in the suggestion that, as the house had lots of period features, it might be suitable for a TV or Film location.
The aim of this shoot was to convey the existing style and scope, or potential if you will, for any location scout to consider the property for any filming project.
